CRIME AND ANTI-SOCIAL BEHAVIOUR IN THE PARISH

The Anti-Social Behaviour Unit at DDC is a one-stop shop for reporting all types of anti-social behaviour :-

It should be noted that the following telephone number can be used to report:

criminal damage/vandalism, threatening behaviour, harassment, abandoned cars, neighbour problems, noise, dog fouling and fly tipping:

01304 872220 or the web page link is - http://www.dover.gov.uk/asb/

Reports can be made in confidence, to protect your identity (just let them know when you contact them). The phone line is open during office hours, with an answering machine out of hours. Ensure that you have as much information to hand as possible, including

Date, time and location of incident, a description of those involved (if you can) and what they did
The definition of anti-social behaviour under the Crime and Disorder Act 1998 is that it is 'behaviour likely to cause alarm, harassment or distress to members of the public not of the same household as the perpetrator'.

It is important that all crimes are reported to ensure that statistics are correct, as statistics are used to target areas for policing. Non-emergency minor crimes can now be reported on-line at www.online.police.uk . It takes only a few minutes to enter your own details, the victim's details, and details of the crime and you will be contacted by telephone a day or two later and given a crime number. Alternatively you can call 01622 690690 to report crimes.

Friends of Kent Churches Annual Sponsored Bike Ride and Walk

This event has been running for over 20 years and this year promises to be a really successful day. The event takes place on Saturday 13 September 2008 from 10am to 6pm.

Over 700 churches across Kent will be involved, welcoming riders and walkers, often with refreshments. Money is raised through sponsorship and is shared between your nominated church and the Friends of Kent Churches, who give grants for church repairs. Last year more than £140,000 was raised.

Plan your own route, long or short, flat or hilly, challenging or relaxed, whatever suits you.

This is a lovely day out for all the family.

Visit the website – www.friendsofkentchurches.co.uk for more information, sponsor forms, tee-shirts and more.

The GREEN Article

The Parish Council has agreed a local initiative to tackle litter and fly tipping in the countryside surrounding the Parish, along our lanes, byways, bridleways and footpaths.
Naturally, to achieve any degree of success, it requires everyone to support the initiative and to do their bit to help the process. For starters:

1. Don’t Fly Tip “It”, recycle it or dispose of it using the Kent County Council Household Waste and Recycling Centre at Whitfield.
2. Don’t Litter “It”, use a community litter bin or take it home so that it can be recycled or binned.

Please use the KCC and Dover District Council facilities for disposing of your waste:

? Why not use the Household Waste and Recycling Centre as it accepts waste for landfill and now attempts to recycle most household, green and hazardous waste to achieve National recycling targets and minimise fly tipping?
? Why not use the garden gate ‘Black Box’ and ‘Green’ recycling schemes? The Black Box is collected with household waste on Thursdays, every other Thursday, and the Green garden waste is collected on Fridays, the week following the Black Box collection. See below for the schedule for the remainder of 2007.
? Why not take the time to report the fly tipping site or abandoned vehicle to DDC if you happen to see it? The contact telephone number is given below.

Helpful Information:

1. The Recycling Centre at Whitfield will accept electrical goods, rubble, car batteries, torch batteries, printer and photocopier cartridges and metal in addition to the more common recycling items.
2. Fly Tipping can be reported to DDC using 01304 872428.
3. Abandoned vehicles can be reported to DDC using 872428.
4. Waste and recycling information can be obtained using the same number, 872428.
(If you prefer to e-mail DDC, the address is waste@dover.gov.uk ).

By doing some of the above we will make a difference, help to keep the village and surrounding countryside litter free and contribute to the legacy of conserving our environment in its natural state.

Thank you for your help and contribution.
